What a great weekend for a street festival. 80 degrees, lots of sun and tons of things to do.
As I headed up Monkland with Chelsea in tow, we came across this young street performer. Her name is Emmy Aronovitch
and she couldn’t have been more than 10 years old. She was belting out Bob Marley tunes hoping to raise money for the Lac Mégantic Red Cross fund.
Artists lined the street with all kinds of colourful prints.
Throughout the day there were different demonstrations. Anyone up for some Hot Yoga??
There was face painting for the kids…
This young fellow seemed pretty happy with his design.
If face painting wasn’t your thing being more of the rebel type, there was a young gal doing henna designs.
Street musicians played on every corner…
There was candy for the kids.
Tarantulas for the brave…
This young lad seemed pretty taken with his new squeeze…
There was a DJ that kept one end of Monkland hopping.
Led by the boy in blue, the crowd was moving and shaking. Hip Hop style!
And of course some ballroom dancing – these ladies were at this most of the day.
One of the big events on Saturday was the dog Parade. The proceeds went to PetitsPawz – a cat refuse of Montreal.
Sharman Yarnell was on hand to MC the event and she did an awesome job.
This furry fellow wanted nothing to do with the dog parade… Smart!
There were 7 food trucks on the street: Lucille’s, Route 27, Roux, Le Cheese, P-A Gargantua, Landry & Filles, Pas d’Cochon dans mon salon.
If food trucks were not your thing, there were several BBQ’s along Monkland.
This chef was shucking oysters on demand.
I came across this cute mascot from St-Viater’s Bagel. I am sure he was well toasted at the end of the day…
It was an awesome turn out. Lots of people everywhere.
The main event on Saturday was a band called Replay. They do a tribute to the Beatles.
Here is Paul McCartney.
And John Lennon signing Imagine.
It was a great 2 days for Chelsea and I. I heard Sunday was just as busy.
A special call out to Danny Roseman of Ciel Bleu – you and your team did an AWESOME job.
I can’t wait for next year!!
