ABOUT

shaune-thompson.jpg

Shaune Thompson is a self-taught photographer born and raised in Montreal, Quebec. She has been working out of her studio in St-Henri since 1994. Throughout her 35 years in the print and graphic design industry, photography was an additional skill she acquired to complete many projects including product photography, fashion, and corporate events. Today her true inspiration is cityscape, landscape and pet photography.

Shaune’s preferred shooting conditions are found during the early morning or at the end of the day during the golden hour. “The light and shadows at these specific times of day enhance the subject, making each scene unique, immortalizing the image and telling its own story”. She often uses different techniques such as HDR. This process creates a surreal effect and lends a magical quality to the final photograph. These images have an even greater impact when printed on metal or mounted on acrylic.

For three years in a row, her landscape images were selected by Canadian Geographic for their 2020, 2021 and 2022 calendars.

Her works are held in private collections in Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto, PEI and Nova Scotia. Her photography has been shown in solo and group exhibitions in Montreal. She won second place in the “Winds of Change” exhibition in 2020 and received an honourable mention in 2019 in the “Vert” exhibition.

“Photography is a visual love affair with life. Isolating and framing a part of the world in a photograph is to evoke an emotion, represent a city or landscape and in the end, tell my story.”
