Destination: Anchorage Alaska.
Our adventure began yesterday at noon and ended after an 18 hour, 3 flight voyage.
An incredibly steep take off…
It was a smooth flight from Montreal to Detroit, our first stop along the way.
Doing it with Delta. We flew over the Colorado River on our way to Seattle.
Beautiful scenery from the sky.
We landed safely in Seattle and with a 3 hour layover, we had a quick bite and then I killed some time taking photos of the planes taking off.
We watched a double decker jumbo jet take off. It needed the whole runway.
Finally we were called to board our third and final flight from Seattle to Alaska – 3.5 hours to go.
Mental note: Avoid rows 26-35 if you want to take photos. The wings do get in the way….
Our approach to Anchorage was breathtaking. This was the sunset at 10:45pm last night. The sun finally set shortly after 11pm for a few short hours.
We arrived at our hotel shortly after 11:30pm and fell into bed.
I barely slept last night with the excitement building of finally reaching Alaska and all the wonderful things we will see. I headed downstairs early this morning to get a cup of coffee and there it was. Right in front of me. My first wildlife shot. A puffin. Reading a newspaper. Who knew.
I can’t wait to see what lives outside of the hotel….
